Baby shower ideas aren’t always as easy to come up with as the idea to have a baby shower in and of itself.
My purpose here is to plant the seeds for several ideas that you can choose or rejects at your pleasure. Hopefully something I’ve mentioned will either appeal to you or at least trigger another unrelated idea that just screams, this is it.
Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
1) Build a Library. This is one of my favorites. Have each guest bring a favorite childhood book for the little one to keep. You will use these books as decorations for the shower and they will go home with the mommy to be for baby’s first library. I also recommend giving a nice set of bookends along with the books. You will want to make sure you get a list of the books that are coming so you don’t have repeats. This is a fun way to start the baby off with a love of reading.
2) Trim a tree. For this shower, you can use your artificial Christmas tree as an aid. Have each guest bring an additional small unwrapped gift that will be used to trim the tree. You can also place the bows on the tree as the other presents are opened. It makes a great photo opportunity as well for everyone to take pictures with the mother to be. It’s also fun for the guests to attach their gifts to the tree.
3) Painting party. This one is a fun way for everyone to contribute her (or his) artistic talents towards a gift for the baby. There are many options for a party such as this and you are only limited by your imagination. You can paint wooden toys for the baby or you can paint artwork for the baby’s room on ceramic tiles (if you do this at home, make sure you have access to facilities where the tiles can be fired).
4) Scrapbook Theme. You can allow each of those attending to create a scrapbook page for the mom to be. This will be her special page that the mom will always think of. Be sure to take plenty of photographs at the shower in order to help fill the scrapbook pages being created.
If you haven’t guessed, many of my baby shower ideas include projects that the guests can participate in or contribute to. By allowing the guests and the mother to be, to create something for special for the baby, you are making them an integral part of the baby shower process. I think that is always much more fun than sitting around with a group of people that don’t really know each other and trying to make awkward conversation. Be creative and have fun. Those are the best two ideas I can give you.
